On the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, there is a Student Council of the Faculty, which is guided in its work by the Regulations on Student Self-Government of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. The Student Council of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics conducts its activities in the following areas:
1. Protection of students' rights
In case of conflicts, disputed issues in relations between a student and a lecturer, the student dean of the faculty helps in resolving these issues, involving the faculty administration and, if necessary, appealing to the leadership of the university's student academic council.
2. Student monitoring of the quality of education
According to the decision of the university's scientific and methodological council «On the participation of students in improving the content of education, teaching methods, forms and methods of knowledge control» dated 14.03.2012, students, along with the administration of faculties and the university, also participate in monitoring the quality of the educational process. A week before the start of the first tests, the student dean's office of the faculty creates focus groups, which include head students of academic groups, student self-government activists, and all interested students (4 focus groups, 1st-4th year). Regarding each course taken during the semester, students must conduct a collective discussion and formulate their recommendations for improving teaching, which will be submitted to the faculty administration.
3. Information direction
The Student Council informs students about the decisions of the Academic Council of the faculty and/or university concerning students and the educational process. In addition, students are promptly informed about all events taking place at the university, which are held with the support of the University Student Council.
4. Cultural and mass direction
The Student Council of the faculty promotes the cultural development of students by involving them in cultural and mass activities. With the support and direct participation of student activists, events and health-promoting activities are held at the faculty. One of the most significant events is «Faculty Days» («Mechmat Days»), which take place annually.
5. Charitable activities
Several times a year, the Charity and Volunteering Commission of the University Student Council organizes the collection of toys and useful items for orphanages in the city of Kharkiv. Jointly with charitable organizations of the city, blood donation campaigns are held. With the beginning of the full-scale war, the Faculty Student Council conducts various events to support the army and restore Karazin University buildings. It also encourages students not to be indifferent and to participate in such events and actively informs about their conduct.
6. Improvement of curricula and programs
A decision on a proposal for improving the curriculum and study program may be made at a meeting of the Student Council, which will be sent to the faculty administration for further discussion at the Faculty Academic Council.
7. Cooperation with other student self-government organizations.
The Student Council of the faculty actively cooperates with the Trade Union Organization of Students and the student scientific society of the faculty. This also applies to other student self-governments in our university. The Student Council continues to maintain contact with other "Mechmats" (Faculties of Mechanics and Mathematics) in the country to organize large-scale events.
The head of the Faculty Student Council is the student dean. Also, from the council's composition, a deputy student dean and a secretary of the student dean's office are appointed. Communication with all students of the faculty is carried out through personal appeal, through quality of education monitoring, the head student, by writing to the Student Council's email, or to the anonymous book of complaints and suggestions.

The current student dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics is Hurkina Olena, a third-year student, specialty «Mathematics».
The deputy student dean is Vorotyntsev Oleksii, a second-year student, specialty «Applied Mathematics».
The secretary of the student dean's office is Kurkova Kira , a third-year student, specialty «Computer Science».
The student council has a system of departments where each has its own area of responsibility. We have two departments: Event and SMM. Of course, each of them has its own head.
