Students need to submit their entries by Sunday, 27 September 2026.

Running every year since 2018, the IYMC now reaches more than 45,000 students and 2,100 teachers worldwide. Just as the IAAC shows students the mathematics hidden in the stars, the IYMC gives them a dedicated stage to develop the quantitative reasoning that underpins all of astronomy and astrophysics.

You can access the competition materials at https://iymc.info/, and their team has prepared a range of materials, including:
Problem Sheet of this year’s entry round (PDF)
Posters to display in classrooms or common areas (PDF)
Training Resources to help students prepare (Link)

The awards range from international 1st/2nd/3rd places in each age category (Junior, Youth, Senior) and National Awards, to Bronze, Silver and Gold Honours for Finalists, plus a cash prize pool worth 1400 USD. There are also special awards for teachers and schools: Prizes & Awards

Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the IYMC team directly at submission@iymc.info.
